Temple of the sacred tooth(Dalada Maligawa) is one of the main sacred places of Buddhists in Sri Lanka. But it is worshiped by Buddhists as well as others from all over the country and world. The temple is situated in Kandy, Sri Lanka, which is almost the center of the country.
It houses the relic of the tooth of the Buddha. And as in past it was believed that "whoever holds the relic, is the king of the country", the temple was a royal palace complex.
In the main temple the rituals are performed 3 times a day, in dawn, in noon and in evening. During rituals devotees and tourists get a chance to see the sacred tooth. But the sacred tooth is not actually shown and just the series of gold caskets which the sacred tooth is kept is shown.
